Helping You Understand the Patterns That Shape Your Life
I believe that people have an inherent capacity for growth, healing, and change.
Many of us move through life carrying beliefs, habits, and ways of relating to ourselves and others that developed for important reasons. At one point, these patterns may have helped us cope, adapt, or survive difficult experiences. Over time, however, some of those same patterns can begin to limit us—affecting our relationships, confidence, emotional well-being, and ability to live fully.
My role as a therapist is to help clients better understand these patterns, explore their origins, and develop new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding that support the life they want to create.
Meet Dr. Ronica A. Marable
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of SC and hold a PhD in Counseling. My professional background spans counseling, education, training, organizational development, disability advocacy, and public service.
Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals navigating personal, professional, and systemic challenges. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how our relationships, environments, identities, life experiences, and beliefs influence our mental health and overall well-being.
As a Black woman, I also recognize that our experiences do not occur in isolation from the broader cultural, social, and historical contexts in which we live. I strive to create a space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported as they explore the many factors that shape their lives.
While I welcome adults from diverse backgrounds, I am particularly attuned to the experiences of women—and especially Black women—who have spent much of their lives carrying significant responsibilities while navigating the expectations of family, work, relationships, and society.
My Approach to Therapy
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from multiple evidence-based approaches to meet the unique needs of each client.
At the center of my work is a humanistic perspective, which emphasizes each person’s capacity for growth, self-determination, and meaningful change.
Rather than viewing people solely through the lens of symptoms or diagnoses, I seek to understand the whole person—their experiences, strengths, values, relationships, challenges, and aspirations.
Together, we explore not only what is happening in your life, but also why certain patterns continue to emerge and what may be standing in the way of the changes you want to make.
I view therapy as a collaborative process grounded in curiosity, insight, compassion, and accountability.
What Is Performance Therapy?
My work is also informed by a specialized approach I call Performance Therapy.
Performance Therapy is not coaching. It is a clinically grounded approach that explores how emotional well-being, self-beliefs, relationships, past experiences, and behavioral patterns influence how we function in our daily lives.
Whether someone is navigating anxiety, grief, workplace stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, or questions about identity and purpose, these experiences often affect confidence, decision-making, emotional regulation, and overall functioning.
Performance Therapy helps individuals identify and address the internal and external barriers that may be limiting personal growth, fulfillment, and effectiveness in the areas of life that matter most.
The goal is not perfection or productivity.
The goal is helping people function in ways that are more intentional, authentic, and aligned with who they want to become.
Areas of Focus
I work with adults experiencing:
- Anxiety and chronic stress
- Emotional regulation challenges
- Self-worth and confidence concerns
- Grief and loss
- Leadership and workplace stress
- Relationship challenges
- Life transitions
- Identity exploration and personal growth
Why ALIVE?
The name ALIVE reflects my belief that therapy is about more than reducing symptoms.
It is about reconnecting with yourself.
It is about understanding the patterns that shape your life, strengthening your sense of self, and creating opportunities for growth and change.
It is about moving beyond survival and toward a life that feels more meaningful, intentional, and fully lived.
I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.
